A Vibrant Lakeside Neighborhood
Nestled on the south shore of Lake Union and extending south to Denny Way, South Lake Union is one of the fastest growing and most vibrant neighborhoods in Seattle. As the city's downtown lakefront neighborhood, it's a place where cutting-edge companies co-exist with urban lofts, one-of-kind retail experiences mix with world-class parks and open spaces, dining - from waterfront restaurants to cozy neighborhood cafés - is a taste sensation and a streetcar line can quickly take you to your next destination in style.
South Lake Union also has a little of the funkiness so distinctive to the Emerald City. It's a place where a local condominium has a bocce ball court; the stunning new lakefront park has a model boat pond; and there's a local gourmet bakery...for dogs.

The neighborhood is already home to several world-class companies including the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Rosetta/Merck, ZymoGenetics, Tommy Bahama, Jones Soda, NBBJ, University of Washington Medicine, Group Health Cooperative, Seattle Biomedical Research Institute and, soon, the new headquarters for Amazon.com.
Whether you're looking for Neapolitan style pizza, a unique treat for your four-legged friend or a rejuvenating spa to relax the toes, South Lake Union has something to please everyone. Exciting new places to dine, shop and discover are always opening.

Public art is one of the great timeless treasures of South Lake Union. As you walk around the neighborhood, you'll discover inspiring, diverse and eye-catching artwork on display by several acclaimed local artists that is distinctively South Lake Union. At 2200 on the plaza in front of Whole Foods Market are three large, seven-foot tall sculptures by acclaimed local ceramicist Akio Takamori, representing the artist's first public art project. At the Merck/Rosetta Building you can find Ping Pong Plaza, by Buster Simpson. The centerpiece is a bronze ping pong table with a stainless steel net; it's a working game table. Depicted on the table's legs are profiles of noted scientists.
